1839 – In Humen, China, Lin Tse-hsü destroys 1.2 million kg of opium confiscated from British merchants, providing Britain with a casus belli to open hostilities, resulting in the First Opium War… The British East India Company began to auction opium grown on its plantations in India to independent foreign traders in exchange for silver. The opium was then transported to the China coast and sold to Chinese middlemen who retailed the drug inside China. This reverse flow of silver and the increasing numbers of opium addicts alarmed Chinese officials… In 1839, the Daoguang emperor, rejecting proposals to legalise and tax opium, appointed Lin Zexu to solve the problem by abolishing the trade. http://ocw.mit.edu/ans7870/21f/21f.027/opium_wars_01/ow1_essay01.html

Hochzeitsreise
Auf den treulos rollenden Rädern
Nach des Südens sonnige Heimat
Fährt Pierrot mit pochendem Herzen
Ihm zur Seite Kolombinchen.
Bange Sorge preßt das Herz ihm:
Ob sein Glück ihm nun auch folge
Auf den treulos rollenden Rädern
Nach des Südens sonnige Heimat.
- Fühlt er einmal ihren Arm nicht,
und entgleitet ihre Hand ihm,
gleich sucht er sie zagend, tastend:
um die Liebe festzuhalten
auf den treulos rollenden Rädern.
Arnold Schoenberg: Pierrot Lunaire op. 21, I Teil (1-7). (Text: Albert Giraud / Otto Erich Hartleben)

POUR TOI
Estoy de ti florecido
como los tiestos de rosas,
estoy de ti floreciendo
de tus cosas...
Menudo limo de amores
abona mis noches tuyas
y me florecen de sueños
como los cielos de luna...
Como tú mido los pasos
y la distancia es más corta,
hablo en tu idioma de amor
y me comprenden las rosas...
Es que ya estoy florecido.
Es que ya estoy floreciendo
de tus cosas.
